A cat named Ramona is an incredible and inspiring mother. On Friday the Great Plains SPCA in Kansas released a statement about Ramona, who is currently in their Veterinary Care Center with her kittens after a tragic accident. A man who was trimming pampas grass didn’t realize that Ramona and her babies were nestled in the thick grass.
He hit Ramona and one of her babies with his chainsaw, and then, realizing what had just happened, he rushed all of them to the vet. Every one of them is doing just fine, though Ramona lost her right front leg. In an amazing show of motherhood, though, Ramona went back to taking care of her kittens immediately after her operation.
Take a look at this mommy!
That’s why the staff gave her the name Ramona. In Spanish it means “protecting hands”. Ramona and her babies are at a foster home now, and hopefully soon permanent homes will be found for all of them. Share away, people!
