With temperatures reaching record highs in Alaska, animals are suffering from the heat too. Thanks to kind folks in the region, the wildlife that are also in need of relief during these unusually hot days, can find respite or even a cool drink when it’s desperately needed.
Candice Helm saw a mama moose and her twin calves wandering around her Eagle River neighborhood. But rather than simply ignoring the despairing little family, she took it upon herself to do what any good neighbor would do and help them out.
“They just strolled around the house and looked really hot,” said Helm in a news interview. “So we turned on the sprinklers and they were happy.”
The heat exhausted animals were obviously extremely thankful for Helm’s thoughtful gesture as they cavorted and romped through the sprinkler in her front yard.
Even mama moose, who dutifully kept an eye on her little ones had fun, couldn’t help herself as she frolicked a little in the refreshing waters provided for them.
